about

Given the apocalyptic climate of our time, Tridroid Records is proud to
present what could be considered the overture for modern society.

Combining the joint efforts of MISANDR and WHITEPHOSPHOROUS, two enigmatic musicians prevalent in the art of noise and chaotic soundscapes, This Can Not Continue takes the listener into a world that seems too destructive to be our own and yet far too calculated to be anything but.

Beginning with “Overtures of Annihilation” where MISANDR, the engineer of vitriol themselves, creates an audible nightmare inter-spliced with the racist themes of the Alt-Right when discussing border tensions, uses large amounts of distortion and feedback to construct a scene of the type of monstrosity those seeking asylum into America would undoubtedly face. The fair use of reverb in certain layers touch on the atmosphere of an abattoir, where the butchers are there to meet their prey in red hats and black hearts. It is an absolute rush of adrenaline that is certainly not meant to evoke any sense of beauty as with the topics at hand, there is none to be found. However, they do not eschew the idea of rhythm as the programming is carefully constructed that even through these gain-fueled vocals and drums, there is the razor edged tempos of early Industrial acts that will then trickle into the pulse-
pounding explosions of noise, frenetic energy, and pure disgust.

The flip side contains the side project of one of the mysterious members of NECKBEARD DEATHCAMP, who had taken the grainy, lo-fi black metal away from those spewing hatred and put them up against the wall they so badly crave. Through three tracks, WHITEPHOSPHOROUS delves more into the trenches of atmosphere with no discernible rhythm, yet the spaces created are so massive that it would take hours of repeated listening to completely absorb what has been done. “A PRISON WE BUILT FOR OURSELVES” uses the type of garbled sound bytes that are prevalent in NECKBEARD DEATHCAMP through an infiltrative haze of pounding feedback, while “DACHAU IN TEXAS” favors a more surrealist approach through varying levels of distortion to develop a sense of isolation in the listener. The closer “MANUFACTURED CRISIS” combines the framing of the two previous tracks alongside a looping example of media fear mongering, and the result is disturbing in the most explicit sense.

There is nothing contained within This Can Not Continue that is easy or light-hearted, just a full dose of the times we live in and these two artists have managed to extract every bit of dread and disgust that fuels our need for action. This split will not give you empathy, it will put you at the foot of the beast which you’re not likely to enjoy how that feels, making this not only important listening but an absolute requirement.
